Last 5 years José Manuel Alvarez decided to change their farming practices, implementing better care in every step of the process of the coffee that have been growing for the last 30 years since he acquired the Farm La Mesa. Collecting only ripe red fruits and taking them to an excellent benefit has developed this profile exceptional cup profile where the creamy medium body mixes with butter and cedar notes accompanying its medium acidity and chocolaty flavor, with a true balance.
His goal is to produce a coffee distinguished as one of the best in Colombia. The Caturro variety crops, share the land with banana, citrus and fruit as well as some produce for the proper use of all those living in the farm. You need to travel two hours on horseback from Rio Frio, the nearest town to reach this land located at 1600 meters above sea level crossed by a river that provides water.
Life is hard here, this place is located in the middle of lands of conflict, and children have to walk far to reach the nearest school.
Mr. Alvares is confident that the good times will come soon to the region and by that time his estate be ready to produce a coffee even better than this one presented to us right now.
