10 years ago Diego Santacoloma bought the Farm Alto Bonito located in the vereda Santa Ana of the municipality of Dos Quebradas in the department of Risaralda in the Colombian coffee axis. Since that time he is doing an excellent job with the coffee crop, for which he has two different ways of benefit process.
The first one uses a modern technological system call Belcosub and uses a silos for the drying process. The resulting coffee is sold in the internal standard market. The micro-lots dedicated to the specialty coffee production are beneficiated in the traditional wet tanks, then it is dried under the sun and it is manually selected.
This farm is surrounded by the Camilo Torres creek that provides water to a population between 3000 and 4000 habitants and preserves one hectare of natural woods.
6 persons live in the farms at all times, but 6 more must to be hired by the harvest season. There is abundant and different flora and fauna; we can highlight: Oak trees, eucalyptus, guamos, all kind of citrus, walnut, chachafruto, as well as Guatines and woodpeckers. Also coffee crops share grounds with plantain, cassava and bananas.
